Geothermal Systems

When you think geothermal systems, think energy efficiency. Geothermal systems use technology known as ground source heat pumps to make the transfer of hot and cool air more efficient. These systems use free fuel to heat your home in the winter and cool it in the summer. And, you can get most of your hot water for free, too! Because the system works with the relative temperature of the earth instead of the variable temperatures above ground, geothermal systems can reduce heating and cooling costs by 50 to 70%. How it Works

The ground remains at a constant temperature year-round about six feet below the surface. In the winter months, the ground is warmer than the surface and in the summer it is cooler. Using a series of liquid-filled pipes buried outside your home, a geothermal system gathers the heat from the earth and distributes it throughout your home when it's cold outside. In the summer months, the system moves the heat from your home to the earth to cool it.
